The New Norm: The Drive-By Birthday

In the wake of these unprecedented times, COVID-19 has disrupted our daily lives, changed the way we interact, and caused pain and uncertainty for many. However, through these disruptions new changes have emerged that I love. Aside from having my family home with me, Zoom hangouts with friends and the invention of the “drive-by” birthday caravan have to be my fav. Though we cannot hug and kiss the ones we love, there is still an outpouring of support and devotion for our friends family and neighbors.

As "un normal" as our birthdays might feel like right now...it is so important to continue to document these joyous occasions.

Family Reunion - Newport, Rhode Island

I have to say, when you get a family together, whether large or small, it is a ton of fun! I love shooting family reunions, and family get-togethers. The time whizzes by as you learn everyone’s name, where they are from, and who is related to whom.

I was honored to shot a Newport couple, one of which was celebrating a milestone birthday. Family flew in from all over the U.S. to celebrate. We gathered together in King’s Park, overlooking the Newport harbor for prior to party.

NewportOUT Event: Pride Cruise

I had the privilege to join up with NewportOUT once more and sail the aboard the legendary Schooner Adirondack II alongside the super talented Trailer Park Girls. Fun and merriment had by all who attended. We could not have asked for better weather on this gorgeous September day as we sailed across the Narragansett Bay.

NewportOUT Event: The Gulf Stream Bar and Grille

Have you heard of NewportOUT yet? This organization was created to showcase Newport, Rhode Island and the surrounding area as open as an inviting place for travelers who identify under the LGBTQ umbrella. From same-sex couples looking to tie the knot in an incredible seaside town, to LGBTQ families looking to vacation, to international tourists looking to hit the New England hotspots, they want all of these people to feel welcome in Newport and have access to resources on the best experiences to include in their visit.

NewportOUT entrusted me to tag along and capture some fun during a gorgeous summer evening at The Gulf Stream Bar and Grille in Portsmouth, RI. The Gulf Stream Bar and Grille focuses on creating a comfortable, friendly dining experience for all. Their creative menu offers coastal cooking with a New England twist and their main dining room, indoor bar and dog-friendly outdoor deck and bar provide stunning sunset and water views.
